The Truth and Liberation in Action all day teach-in is an opportunity for exactly what I’ve been writing about related to “what did not reach me?” and “what am I called to do now?” Knowledge travels through presence and building relationships. This one-day teach-in is provided as an invitation from Native people to build, or enlarge, a channel into Indigenous ways.

It is also significant because it takes place on the land the Great Plains Action Society has recently (re)acquired in downtown Iowa City. At the Indigenous-led Urban Resilience Hub.

For any settler institution, a decolonial path requires moving beyond reconciliation to repentance and restitution. It means embracing the incommensurable demands of LANDBACK, Mutual Aid, and Abolition. This is not a rejection of values like peace and justice, but their most rigorous and honest application-an act of faith in a more just world yet to be built.
